SUMMARY:May Chocolate Lab for Lovers... of Craft Beer - Avery Brewing Compa
 ny - 15 May 13 19:00
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Avery Brewing Company\, Jeff Mendel - craft beer vete
ran\; esteemed partner\, director and ambassador of Left Hand Brewing Comp
 any and Chef Sarah Amorese - owner and chocolatier of Piece\, Love &amp\;
Chocolate\nOn location at Avery Brewing Company\n(must be 21 years old)\n
\nBeer truly loves chocolate. Historic cousins and perfect partners\, beer
and chocolate are great companions. If you have never tried this decadent
fellowship\, you are missing something very special\, indeed! For those l
ucky few that have already experienced this decadent marriage of food and
drink\, you will instantly light up and say\, "Yes\, please!"\n\nJeff\, Sa
rah and Avery Brewing Company take craft beer and chocolate pairing to the
next level by exploring history\, ingredients and the creative craft proc
esses behind these two celebrated fermented foods.  Why do craft beer and
chocolate complement each other so well?\n\nCraft beer and artisan chocol
ate\, having so many things in common\, are the perfect pairing partnershi
p! In the class\, we reveal the delicious similarity between chocolate and
beer. They are both fermented foods believed to be created by happy accid
ents. Each has its own delicate balance of sweet and bitter flavors. Malt
beer is naturally very sweet and would not be palatable without the balanc
ing bitterness of hops. In much the same way\, chocolate is based on roast
ed and bitter cocoa balanced by sugar. In both cases\, a perfect union is
created in the balance between bitter and sweet. This is when beer and cho
colate are at their most decadent best.\n\nWhether craft beer is served wi
th a chocolate dessert or the chocolate is brewed right into the beer\, th
e two work incredibly well together. Both share an affinity for a wide var
iety of foods such as nuts\, fruit\, and yes\, even bacon!\n\nWith a focus
on the beloved and small batch craft production of both chocolate and bee
r\, this is an elegant and  metaphysical exploration of the physiology of
tasting beer and chocolate together. It will excite and enlighten your pa
late unlike any other food pairing.\n\nOnce again\, within the magnificent
barrel room of Avery Brewing Company\, surrounded by kegs and barrels and
taps - oh my - we are very proud to offer this wildly entertaining and fu
n evening.\n\nThis interactive class is sure to impart a deeper knowledge
and appreciation of how fine chocolate and craft beer are created and how\
, more importantly\, they belong together... all you need is love... and t
o register quickly! We have only 46 seats available and they are sure to s
ell out! What a great Mother's Day gift during American Craft Beer Week (h
 int\, hint!)\n\n*Includes a flight of 8 beers - some very special limited
edition brews from our host Avery\, and some special selections from other
local craft breweries such as Lefthand\, Upslope\, West Flanders and Crys
tal Springs brewing companies - and a pairing of over 12 different signatu
re PL&C chocolates &amp\; micro-desserts.\n\n(*Due to the extensive planni
ng involved in this event\, we will not accept any late sign-ups. Registra
