Hosted by the local and esteemed and sought out pie judge and aficionado, PL&C’s very own Queen of the Short Dough and Cocoa Coordinator (do I hear a drum roll, please!?!) – Chef Genny Fetherston
Must be 12*yrs (accompanied by an attending adult) or older
All of you who know our cherished Chef Genny are well aware of the fact that pies (of all kinds) are very near and dear to her fruit lovin’ (and chocolate dipped) heart. She has created this class to honor the lighter and brighter dessert cravings of summer.
In this class, Genny shares three generations of her family’s baking secrets with heart warming stories to charm you. In addition, you will learn the basics of creating the perfect tender and flakey pie crust, how to balance the delicate flavor notes for a winning filling, and over-all pie terminology including single and double crust, gallette, tart, all-things chiffon, custard, meringue, cream, fruit & nut… etc., etc!
Not only will you leave with your masterpiece pie, but you will be consumed with the urge to encapsulate many of your future meals in a crust of some sort – no kidding!
Come and join us for some summer Saturday morning fun and pie for breakfast!
Methodology: short dough, thickening & coagulation, blind baking, mousse, stirred custard
As an added bonus and thank-you, we would like to extend a 15% discount off all in-store purchases (including tools and ingredients) the morning of this class.
