Winter Classes at PL&C

When it’s a wintery Saturday morning in Boulder, we may put on our warm running gear, our windproof cycling jackets or our well-worn snowshoes to enjoy the outdoors. Another option? Donning an apron for a morning of chocolate education in the PL&C kitchen!

Our classes have long been a popular way for our chocoholics to learn the tips and tricks of our trade. Led by our staff of knowledgeable kitchen goddesses, we guide you through hands-on techniques that will sharpen your kitchen skills and wow your friends, family and dinner party guests. Here are the classes coming up in the next few months:

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE, SAUCE & FONDUE Saturday, January 10, 2015, 10:00am – 12:00pm: In this two-hour class, you’ll learn to whip up a chocolate mousse that’ll make you and your guests weak in the knees, a luxurious and versatile chocolate sauce that’s used for mochas, ice creams and beyond, and a chocolate fondue that’s perfect for a party or date night for two! Cost: $55/per person

TASTY TRUFFLES & TECHNIQUES Saturday, January 24, 2015, 10:00am – 12:00pm: Considered an exotic specialty, chocolate truffles have a rich dessert history. In this two-hour class, you’ll learn how to use tempered chocolate and make classic ganaches with simple garnishes that are sure to thrill you and those you may choose to share with. Valentine’s Day is just three short weeks away from this class! Cost: $55/per person

CRAFT BEER & CHOCOLATE DESSERTS PAIRING Friday, January 30, 2015, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, West Flanders Brewery: Excite and educate your palate with new flavor combinations that will turn your tastebuds upside down. This elegant culinary exploration of the physiology of taste and the pairing of flavors focuses on Colorado’s artisan craft production of chocolate and beer. Located at West Flanders Brewery; 21 and up only, please. Cost: $45/per person

CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE & FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE Saturday, February 28, 2015, 10:00am – 12:00pm: Our Flourless Chocolate Cake is one of our best-selling cakes. Although its ingredients aren’t many, this cake is all about technique and shares similar methods to the chocolate souffle. In this class, you’ll make both! You’ll also learn basic plating and saucing skills to wow your guests. Cost: $55/per person

CHOCOLATE POTS DU CREAM, PUDDING & CREME BRULEE Saturday, March 14, 2015, 10:00am – 12:00pm: Ready to serve show-stopping French desserts at your next get-together? In this two-hour class, we’ll teach you the basics of making these chocolaty soft-baked custards and share some fun and creative ways of plating them. You’ll also get the scoop on Chef Genny’stop-secret chocolate pudding recipe! Cost: $55/per person
